Since this was a tradition when I was growing up, I have never let it die. Even when I was in high school and my mom was to tired after a long day at work, I would make cookies and make sure me and my brothers painted them. It is sugar cookies with paint made by mixing egg yolk, vanilla, and food coloring. I make 4 colors and then we paint them before we bake them. Even my grown kids still love doing it and I know my girls will keep this tradition with their kids.
