6 Hour Tour In San Fransisco

Sunday was our last day in San Fransisco and we ended it with an amazing 6 hour tour of the highlights of San Fransisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, and a narrated tour of Alcatraz.  This was probably our most favorite day over all.  It started at 7:15 a.m. and luckily it was our warmest day of all.  We rode in a trolly car through Union Square, which is the rodeo drive of San Fransisco.  Then we headed to Fisherman's Warf to board our ferry for Alcatraz.  Alcatraz island had beautiful views of the bay and San Fransisco and having headphones with a narrated tour was really neat.  Some of the inmates talked about experiences and described what went on behind bars.  They were a lot harder on criminals when Alcatraz was open from 1933 to 1963.  They served a lot of time and many years for crimes that people now walk away with only 30 days behind bars.  After touring alcatraz we met our guide back at Fisherman's Warf where she had a sack lunch for us and we were able to watch some of the acts going on at the piers.  Then we drove around Fisherman's Warf and over to the Palace of Fine Arts.  It was so beautiful and we were able to walk around.  Then we drove over the Golden Gate bridge and to Fort Point National Historic Site.  We saw cannons that they set up to protect the bay.  It was next to the Golden Gate Bridge.  The housing for the military was pretty with nice yards and you don't see yards in San Fransisco.  Everything is built on hills and straight up side by side.  To rent a house at Fort Point it costs $16,000 a month and there is a waiting list.  UNREAL!  We also saw lots of whales while we were at Fort Point and they weren't far away.  There were lots of sail boats and fishing boats very close to them.  We had such a fun trip and loved our tour guide.  We were sad to fly home Sunday night.
China Town (The closest thing to Hong Kong in the U.S.)

We are ready for our tour.

Alcatraz from the ferry window.

A cell at Alcatraz.

The view from Alcatraz.  They said the noises and voices
carried across the bay especially on New Year's.  It made
the prisoners wish they were celebrating.

Cargo ship.

The Palace of Fine Arts was so beautiful.

I loved the pond by the palace.

Jayden was so fascinated with this amazing
bridge, so he took a lot of these pictures.
