Another Day At The Orphanage And School

Today we headed back to the orphanage because Jayson had promised to fix two little bikes for the boys.  We had talked about wanting to buy them new bikes, but were not sure where or how.  As we were driving through a small town Jayson saw hand me down bikes and asked our group leader if we could buy some.  He said he would have to discuss it with the other guy first.  This morning we woke up and they said we could buy bikes.  It felt like Christmas going to the thrift store and picking them out.  We bought some pretty nice ones, but for 3 bikes it was $300.  The prices are just as high or more than here.  Their groceries cost the same as we pay and they live off of $60 a month.  Most of them don't have any gas, electricity, or running water.  When we got back to the orphanage we hid their bikes and went to another school to paint playground equipment and spend time with the kids.  We went back to the orphanage after school and got the bikes out and the little boys were so excited we all had tears in our eyes and they were so proud of Jayson for fixing their bikes.
Looking for bikes and I saw this cutie.

I wasn't walking across this rickety thing.
